ASCE issues 2013 Report Card, gives nation a D+

In a much anticipated release, ASCE’s 2013 Report Card for America's Infrastructure was released on Tuesday, March 19, in Washington, D.C. The overall grade of D+, up from D in 2009, reflects steps in the right direction in several categories, notably in bridges, rail, and solid waste. It is the first time since ASCE started producing Reports Cards in 1998 that the grades rose overall and in several sectors. Read More

In the California’s Infrastructure Report Card, California’s infrastructure received a grade of C, up from C- from 2006. Improvements can be observed in several categories: aviation, ports, and transportation. The low grades in the water and environment sectors still indicate a need for further enhancement. Levees/flood control are much improved, with this sector now receiving a passing grade. Read More

Western Region Younger Member Council Conference
The 2013 Western Region Younger Member Council (WRYMC) Conference was held in Phoenix Arizona. Younger Members from all of the west coast began arriving on Thursday to the Renaissance hotel in downtown Phoenix on Thursday January 30th. The early arrivers got to meet each other that night at the hotel lobby’s restaurant while others were checking-in at the hotel. The excitement of being at the conference and meeting old friends could be felt immediately after arriving at the hotel. » Read More
