Tyler Hodges

Tyler graduated from UC Irvine with a B.S. in Civil Engineering and works as a Design Engineer at Mark Thomas. His experiences includes work on utilities such as sewer, water, and drainage design, as well as transportation. During his time at UC Irvine, Tyler was heavily involved with expanding his connections with students and faculty as a Resident Advisor in Student Housing.

Besides taking long walks on the beach, Tyler enjoys playing kickball, hanging out with friends, and baking desserts. Tyler is grateful to work with the amazing individuals within OC YMF and the future leaders of the upcoming generation.

Celeste Chan

Celeste is a Civil Analyst in Development Services at Kimley-Horn. She recently graduated from Cal Poly Pomona with a B.S. in Civil Engineering. She has been heavily involved in ASCE and SWE since her first year of college and served as the SWE president in her senior year. Since then, Celeste has continued to stay involved in ASCE through LA YMF and OC YMF, fueled by her passion to give back to her community alongside so many talented, driven individuals. In her free time, Celeste loves to travel, take pictures, snowboard, swim, and spend time with her loved ones.

Marionne Lapitan

Marionne is a Traffic/ITS Engineer at Jacobs. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering at California State University, Long Beach in 2019, and Master's Degree in Civil Engineering at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona in 2023.

Actively involved in ASCE as a student, serving as the 2018-2019 CSULB Co-President, Marionne joined OC YMF to continue to make a difference in her community through civil engineering in hopes of building a brighter future for the next generation. She is passionate about designing and building communities, both structurally and socially. Seeing the organization foster a positive difference in both her personal and professional life inspired her to promote the profession to a broader audience beyond academia. She enjoys graphic design, hiking, traveling, and anything involving creativity and adventure!

Nathaniel Kapongo

Nathaniel is a Transportation Engineering Associate at LADOT in DTLA, working in their Metro programs division. He's currently working on developing the G Line project in the valley. He received his B.S. in Civil Engineering in 2021 from California State University, Long Beach.

Nathaniel has been heavily involved in ASCE since his freshman year working on projects and outreach events. He now serves as a Practitioner Advisor and WRYMC Treasurer. Outside of engineering, Nathaniel enjoys trying out new recipes, quidditch, and traveling.

Gabreelle Gonzalez

Gabreelle graduated from the University of California, Irvine with a bachelor's in Civil Engineering. She currently works at the City of Anaheim as an Associate Engineer for Public Works Development Services.

Gabreelle began her involvement with OC YMF in 2015, post-graduation in the University Outreach Committee as the UC Irvine Liaison. Gabreelle enjoys providing support and resources to the student chapters, which is why she remained the University Outreach Chair up until 2021. She has now transitioned to President and is looking forward to giving back to the organization on a broader scale. She appreciates the opportunities OC YMF has given her over the years, in which she has made many great friends, grew her network, learned about the industry, and grown both personally and professionally.

Adeleine Tran

Adeleine is a Geotechnical Engineer at Jacobs' Irvine office. Adeleine earned her M.S. in GeoSystems / GeoEngineering and B.S. in Civil & Environmental Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley.

In her free time, she enjoys dancing, urban exploring, and trying out new restaurants and coffee shops. Adeleine has been in ASCE OC YMF since June 2017 and she is excited to continue expanding her network professionally and personally.

Carlos De La Sancha

Carlos De La Sancha is the 2023-2024 Co-Liaison for the CSUF student chapter and is also a transportation engineer at T.Y. Lin International in the roadway and highways team. Carlos was involved with organizations such as ASCE and ITE during his undergrad at CSUF and this inspired him to continue with transportation in his career path. During his free time, Carlos likes to go jogging and hiking along trails in Los Angeles.

Darlyn Hernandez

Darlyn was heavily involved in ASCE at UC Irvine and joined YMF after graduating to continue her involvement. As a student herself, Darlyn saw the great benefit OC YMF provides to the students and is passionate about providing the same benefits and opportunities to the new generation of students. As the UCI Practitioner Darlyn strives to keep communication transparent between ASCE Society and the UCI Student Chapter as well as providing any guidance on navigating the Civil Engineering Industry to the student chapters. When she's not planning or hosting a University Outreach event, Darlyn enjoys going to Disneyland, traveling, and growing her plant collection from local vendors.

Jacob Perea

Jacob is a Civil Engineering Associate at LADWP in DTLA, working in their Water Distribution Division - Resiliency and Water Loss Management Group. Jacob Graduated from California State University Fullerton with a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering and was actively involved in organizations on campus. He is excited to be involved with ASCE YMF this year and in the years to come. In his free time, Jacob loves to cycle, mountain bike, cook, and enjoy the great outdoors.

Jocelyn Del Angel

Jocelyn is an Assistant Civil Engineering at County of Los Angeles, Building & Safety. She received her Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering from California State University, Long Beach. Jocelyn is also currently pursuing her Master's degree at CSULB.

During undergrad, Jocelyn served in the ASCE CSULB officer board. She is now the Internal Activities Co-Chair for ASCE OC YMF.

Matthew Quintanilla

Matthew is a Construction Manager for the City of Los Angeles Bureau of Engineering. He currently works at the Hyperion Water Reclamation Plant in El Segundo overseeing the construction of various wastewater projects throughout the plant. He received his Master's in Environmental Engineering from the University of Southern California in 2018 with an emphasis on water quality.

Matthew is involved with the University Outreach team and would like to continue expanding his involvement in OC YMF. He enjoys having the opportunity of meeting with the future of this industry through University Outreach and sharing his knowledge and experience gained during his professional experience.

Tomas graduated from California State University Long Beach and currently works as a Restoration Engineer at Walker Consultants.

Tomas started participating at ASCE YMF OC on 2022 as an Internal Activities Chair. He is passionate in helping others develop their professional careers. Tomas is excited to keep meeting new professionals and learning more about the industry while hosting ASCE YMF OC activities.

Ashlyn Alexander

Ashlyn is a Road and Highway Engineer at Parsons Corporation in Irvine. She received her B.S. in Civil Engineering in December of 2016 from San Diego State University. She has been involved in NSBE, WTS, and ASCE throughout her college experience and career.

With a quick move to the OC, she recognized the need to join professional organizations in the area to succeed professionally and personally and OC YMF was an excellent way to get started! OC YMF is very welcoming and continues to make the organization feel like home. With her passion to serve, she is excited to serve as President and continue to grow OC YMF as the premier resource and organization for younger civil engineers in Orange County.

Chuck Karunathilake

Chuck is a Design Engineer at Mark Thomas. He is currently working on roadway, drainage and staging designs in the transportation office in Irvine. He also has four years of construction management experience with Caltrans roadway and staging work.

Chuck’s participation with OC YMF has exposed him to new leadership opportunities and professional growth throughout the years. One of Chuck's reasons to be part of OC YMF is to give back to the community he lives in through K-12 and other professional opportunities. Chuck is grateful to work with OC YMF which is comprised of outstanding and energetic individuals of similar interests who will become future leaders in the Civil Engineering industry.

Esmeralda Aguirre

Esmeralda received her B.S. in Civil Engineering from California State University, Long Beach, and is currently working at Jacobs as a Project Engineer in their Program & Construction Management Division. Esmeralda joined ASCE OC YMF in 2018 and is super excited to contribute to the Civil Engineering profession in her community. ASCE has provided Esmeralda with opportunities of personal and professional development, and the chance to meet so many driven, like-minded individuals, which she now calls friends. In her spare time, Esmeralda enjoys visiting museums, riding her bike, and exploring new places.

Janelle Gonzalez

Janelle graduated from the University of California, Irvine with a B.S. in Civil Engineering in 2020. She currently works as roadway Design Engineer at Mark Thomas. During her undergraduate career, she was heavily involved in ASCE OC; serving as UCI’s student chapter president and volunteering in YMF and Branch committees. Following graduation, Janelle continues bridging the gap between student chapters and professionals by serving as University Outreach Chair. ASCE OC has provided Janelle with invaluable opportunities, resources, and relationships and she hopes to pay it forward by helping the next generation of civil engineers find their path in our industry.

Juan Mendoza

Juan is a Design Engineer at Mark Thomas specialized in Transportation. While earning his bachelor’s in civil engineering at California State University, Long Beach, Juan interned with numerous companies, including Caltrans, Kimley-Horn, and the Long Beach Water Department.

Juan enjoys working with others on planning and executing impactful events for the surrounding community. Juan hopes to encourage future generations of students to pursue a career in STEM. On his free time, Juan enjoys traveling, listening to music, and riding his bike by the coast.

Melissa Hilsabeck

Melissa is a Capital Projects Coordinator at Port of Long Beach. She received her B.S. in Civil Engineering from Cal Poly Pomona where she was involved in ASCE, Concrete Canoe, and Phi Sigma Rho Sorority. Melissa has been involved with ASCE OC YMF since 2015 and has held various Board positions including serving on the ASCE OC Branch Professional Development Committee.

Melissa enjoys being involved with ASCE because she is continuously inspired by her peers. She is passionate about helping foster the growth of young professionals and students in addition to finding innovative ways to get ASCE OC more involved in the local community. Some of Melissa's favorite activities are beach bike rides, dog watching, and trying to keep her house plants alive.

Brisa Bernal

Brisa recently graduated from California State University, Fullerton with a Bachelor's Degree in Civil & Environmental Engineering. She currently works at Diaz-Yourman & Associates as a staff Geotechnical Engineer.

As an undergraduate student, Brisa served as the CSUF chapter president and has been able to stay involved through YMF as one of this year’s CSUF liaisons and social media chairs. Brisa enjoys traveling, sustainability, baking, and whimsical costumes. Brisa is passionate about encouraging girls to explore their own futures in stem fields. She looks forward to all the year with YMF will bring.

Danny earned his B.S. in Civil Engineering from Cal State Long Beach and his M.S. in Water Resources/Environmental Engineering from Cal Poly Pomona.

Danny is a Project Engineer at AECOM and is currently working on wastewater treatment plant design, hydraulic modeling, and wastewater conveyance projects. ASCE helped him achieve his goals as a student, and now he volunteers with ASCE OC YMF as a professional to give back and help the next generation of young engineers. He's passionate about helping people in need and volunteers as much as he can to improving his community.

Giovanni is an Assistant Engineer at Riverside County Flood Control & Water Conservation District in the Operations Engineering Division. He graduated from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona in 2022 with a B.S. in Civil Engineering, Environmental Option. During his time as an undergrad, Giovanni was involved in both Cal Poly Pomona's ASCE and ITE student chapters. He is currently serving as a Communications Committee Co-Chair with OC YMF and is looking forward to continuing his involvement with ASCE. Jazzy Principe is a Project Engineer for the Program & Construction Management Group at Jacobs. She has five years of industry experience in the Transportation, Geotechnical Engineering, Pipeline Utilities, K-12 Master Planning, and Construction Management fields. She has been involved with ASCE OC YMF since 2014 and has served in various Executive Board & Committee Chair roles at both the YMF and Branch level.

During his time at CSULB, he was heavily involved within the CSULB ASCE student chapter where he served as one of the Co-Presidents his senior year and as the membership chair & Timber-Strong Design Build Co-Project manager his junior year.
