BOARD MEMBERS

Alex is a Water Staff Engineer at AECOM in Orange. He has experience with various Surface Water Projects including Floodwalls, Storm Drain, and Dams and Reservoirs. Alex graduated from University of California, Irvine, with a B.S. in Civil Engineering and an emphasis in Water Resources in 2023.

In college, Alex served as Professional Outreach cabinet member and External Vice President for the ASCE UCI Student Chapter. After graduating, Alex has been involved in OC YMF to expand his network and contribute his experiences and knowledge for both personal and engineering communities. Alex’s hobbies include: tennis, pickleball, watching engineering YouTube videos, and he is hoping to learn some golf.

Brian is a Roadway/Highway Engineer I at HNTB. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from California State University, Long Beach (CSULB).

During his time at CSULB, he was involved in CSULB's student chapter of the ASCE, where he took on the board member positions of conference committee member and fundraising chair. As a board member, Brian aims to support the Long Beach student chapter and further connections between other YMF chapters through different events. In his free time, Brian enjoys running, watching movies, and reading.

Carlos currently serves as the Co-Liaison for the CSUF student chapter and is also an Engineer I at HNTB in DTLA.

Carlos was involved with organizations such as ASCE and ITE during his undergrad at CSUF and this inspired him to continue with transportation in his career path. During his free time, Carlos likes to go jogging and hiking along trails in Los Angeles.

Don is a Transportation Engineering Associate III at the Los Angeles Department of Transportation (LADOT). He received his Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering at the University of California, Irvine (UCI) in 2019. Don has been involved in several mentorship programs at UCI and is currently one of the heads of LADOT's mentorship program. He enjoys encouraging the growth of the next generation and helping build their careers in transportation. In his free time, Don likes to travel, try out new restaurants, and read up on history.

Giovanni is an Assistant Engineer at Riverside County Flood Control & Water Conservation District in the Operations Engineering Division. He graduated from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona in 2022 with a B.S. in Civil Engineering, Environmental Option.

During his time as an undergrad, Giovanni was involved in both Cal Poly Pomona's ASCE and ITE student chapters. He previously served as Communications Committee Co-Chair with OC YMF and is looking forward to continuing his involvement with ASCE. In his free time, Giovanni enjoys traveling, hiking, snowboarding, cooking, and spending time with loved ones.

Jonathan is a Designer III at LPA. He received his Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering at University of California, Irvine (UCI) in 2022.

Kevin graduated from California State University, Long Beach with a B.S. in Civil Engineering in 2023. He is currently a Design Engineer at Mark Thomas.

During his time at CSULB, he was heavily involved within the CSULB ASCE student chapter where he served as one of the Co-Presidents his senior year and as the membership chair & Timber-Strong Design Build Co-Project manager his junior year. Outside of engineering, Kevin enjoys photography, snowboarding, and traveling.

Mia earned her degree in Civil Engineering from the University of California, Irvine, in 2025, and currently works as a Roadway Design Engineer at Mark Thomas. As a student, she was involved in the ASCE Cabinet and Pacific Southwest Student Symposium technical projects. As a new board member, her goals include increasing student involvement in YMF and helping to further develop the mentorship academy program. In her free time, Mia enjoys listening to music, watching sports, painting, and spending time with her friends and family.

Sam is a Civil Engineering Associate working in the Inter-Agency Utility Coordination group at the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power. He is a Cal Poly Pomona alumni and received his Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering.

Sam is excited to continue his involvement in ASCE OC YMF, where he will be serving as this year’s External Activities Chair! On his free time, he enjoys to traveling and spending time with friends and family.

Travis is a person dedicated to life-long learning and self improvement who recognizes that obstacles are actually disguised opportunities for growth and failures are disguised opportunities for education.

Travis' interests include Financial Independence/Retire Early (FIRE), soccer, tennis, MMA, cars, motorcycles, DIY repairs for home and automobile, and TSLA and Bitcoin

Ashlyn is a Road and Highway Engineer at Parsons Corporation in Irvine. She received her B.S. in Civil Engineering in December of 2016 from San Diego State University. She has been involved in NSBE, WTS, and ASCE throughout her college experience and career.

With a quick move to the OC, she recognized the need to join professional organizations in the area to succeed professionally and personally and OC YMF was an excellent way to get started! OC YMF is very welcoming and continues to make the organization feel like home. With her passion to serve, she is excited to serve as President and continue to grow OC YMF as the premier resource and organization for younger civil engineers in Orange County.

Brisa graduated from California State University, Fullerton with a Bachelor's Degree in Civil & Environmental Engineering. She currently works at the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power as a Civil Engineering Associate I.

This year, she is serving as the Community Service Chair. Brisa enjoys traveling, sustainability, baking, and whimsical costumes. Brisa is passionate about encouraging girls to explore their own futures in STEM fields. She looks forward to all the year with YMF will bring!

Chris graduated from California State University Fullerton with his B.S. in Civil Engineering in 2024. He currently works as a transportation engineer at Caltrans. His experience includes airport construction, construction management, and traffic operations. During his time at CSUF, he was heavily involved in the ASCE student chapter as the Pacific Southwest Symposium chair, Steel Bridge captain, Transportation team member, and Environmental competition team member.

Chris enjoys playing basketball, collecting Legos, playing video games, traveling, exploring, hiking, and hanging out with friends. Besides these things, Chris is passionate about helping others and is grateful to be surrounded by amazing people who look to do the same.

Elisa is an Associate Engineer at Willdan. She received her Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering at California State University, Fullerton in 2018. She also received her Master's Degree in Engineering/Industrial Management at California State University, Northridge in 2023.

Ishmel is a Transportation Engineer at HNTB in the downtown LA office. He graduated from Cerritos Community College and then transferred to CSULB and received a Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering. He got involved in ASCE when he transferred to CSULB, where he was Historian, then went on to be Activities Chair and Transportation PM for CSULB PSWS team. Ishmel loves traveling and going to festivals. He also enjoys traveling, running, lifting, and cooking.

Jonathan is a Civil Engineering graduate from CSULB with a strong interest in the transportation and traffic discipline. He recently passed the FE exam and will be applying for the EIT credential soon. He is excited to participate in ASCE this year and looks forward to helping out University Outreach in small, yet impactful ways!

Kyra is a Civil Engineering Associate at LA Department of Water & Power in DTLA working in their Power Engineering Division. Kyra graduated from Cal State Long Beach with a Bachelor’s in Civil Engineering and Mathematics and is currently pursuing her Masters in Construction Management at USC.

During college, Kyra was heavily involved in the CSULB chapter holding several positions including president and is now serving as the Website Co-Chair. Off the clock, Kyra enjoys building legos, playing Tetris, and traveling.

Natalie is a Civil Engineering Associate at City of Los Angeles, Bureau of Engineering. She received a B.S. in Civil Engineering from California State University, Fullerton. She recently became involved with ASCE OC YMF and has found a passion for University outreach. She enjoys providing the student chapter with support and resources. Most of all, she enjoys empowering the students and encouraging their professional development. In her spare time, she relishes being outdoors, hiking, snowboarding, and is always trying new things.

Shyam is a Civil Analyst at Kimley-Horn in their Orange office within the Transportation/TPTO team. He graduated from Cal State Long Beach with B.S. in Civil Engineering in 2025. During his time at CSULB, Shyam served as the Vice-President and Outreach Chair for the ASCE Student Chapter at CSULB. In this role, he plans to expand and strengthen the connections between engineering students and the CSULB student chapter with the civil engineering professionals and industry. In his free time, he loves binge watching movies and web series and reading books. He also loves to play golf, tennis, and cricket.

Tyler graduated from UC Irvine with a B.S. in Civil Engineering and works as a Design Engineer at Mark Thomas. His experiences includes work on utilities such as sewer, water, and drainage design, as well as transportation. During his time at UC Irvine, Tyler was heavily involved with expanding his connections with students and faculty as a Resident Advisor in Student Housing.

Besides taking long walks on the beach, Tyler enjoys playing kickball, hanging out with friends, and baking desserts. Tyler is grateful to work with the amazing individuals within OC YMF and the future leaders of the upcoming generation.

Blake is a Civil Analyst practicing roadway design at Kimley-Horn in Orange. he graduated from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo with a B.S. in Civil Engineering in 2022. Blake was a student member of ASCE and led Cal Poly's Pacific Southwest Symposium Transportation Technical Team in 2022 and stayed active in the student chapter volunteering for many events such as concrete canoe casting days, community outreach, and creating weekly newsletters. Blake joined OC YMF to promote the civil engineering profession and to learn from others in the profession.

Calista is a Structural Design Engineer at Wong & Associates Consulting Engineers. She graduated from Cal Poly Pomona with a B.S. in Civil Engineering.
She has always had a curiosity about structural design and analysis, which ultimately led her to pursue structural engineering.

Calista recently got involved with ASCE OC YMF and is passionate about community impact. She loves working alongside motivated individuals and is looking forward to future collaborations within ASCE and other non-profit organizations. In her free time, Calista enjoys spending time with family and friends, trying new restaurants, traveling, playing sports, documenting memories with her Polaroid, and meeting new people!

Daniel is a Staff Engineer at Geocon West, Inc. located in Irvine, CA. He is currently pursuing a M.S. Degree in Geotechnical Engineering at CSUF.

Gilbert works in the Traffic Engineering Department at Michael Baker International in Santa Ana, California. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering at California State University, Long Beach in 2024.

Prior to joining YMF, he was active in the ASCE CSULB Student Chapter's PSWS teams and Associate Board. Outside of engineering, he loves to go on concerts, travel, and build LEGOs!

Jocelyn is a Civil Associate at Michael Baker International’s Structures Department. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from California State University, Long Beach (CSULB). Jocelyn is also currently pursuing her Master's Degree in Civil Engineering at CSULB.

During undergrad, Jocelyn served as Pacific Southwest Symposium (PSWS) Co-Chair for the ASCE CSULB Student Chapter. She is now the Internal Activities Co-Chair for ASCE OC YMF.

Jordan is a Civil Analyst in Roadway Design at Kimley-Horn in their Orange, CA office. He received his M.S. in Transportation Engineering from Cal Poly Pomona in 2024 and also received his B.S. in Civil Engineering from CSU Long Beach in 2022.

Jordan recently got involved with ASCE OC YMF as a young professional and is looking forward to making inspiring and positive impacts within the industry and his community. In his free time, Jordan enjoys traveling, cooking, film photography, and playing mallet percussion instruments.

Marco is a Project Engineer at Clark Construction. Projects he has worked on include the SoFi Stadium FIFA field modifications and LACMA.

Marco Villegas graduated from CSU Northridge with a Bachelors Degree in Applied Mathematics in 2018 and CSU Long Beach with a Bachelors in Civil Engineering in 2022. During his time at Cal State Long Beach, Marco serving Fundraising Chair for their ASCE Chapter. He also served as CSULB Liaison for ASCE OC YMF in 2022-2023. In his free time he enjoys watching soccer, drinking wine and cooking.

Rita is a Project Engineer at Clune and graduated in 2025 with a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from California State University, Long Beach (CSULB).

While at CSULB, she was an active member of the university’s ASCE student chapter, serving on the board as part of the conference committee. She is excited to be involved with ASCE OC YMF this year and in the years to come. In her free time, she enjoys running, hiking, playing pickleball, and listening to music.

Tomas graduated from California State University Long Beach and currently works as a Project Consultant at Simpson Gumpertz & Heger.

Tomas started his involvement with ASCE OC YMF in 2022 as Internal Activities Co-Chair. He is passionate in helping others develop their professional careers. Tomas is excited to keep meeting new professionals and learning more about the industry, while hosting ASCE OC YMF activities.

Veronica is a Roadway/Highway Engineer I at HNTB. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from Cal Poly Pomona (CPP).

During her time at Cal Poly Pomona, she was involved in Associated Schools of Construction (ASC), where she competed as the principal architect in the Design Build event. Veronica currently serves as the webmaster co-chair. In her free time, she enjoys boxing, reading, and snowboarding.
