HISTORY

The American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) Orange County Branch was established in 1953, marking the beginning of a strong legacy of civil engineering leadership and community engagement in Southern California. In 2023, the Branch proudly celebrated its 70th Anniversary, honoring decades of service, innovation, and professional development.
The Orange County Younger Member Forum (OC YMF) was previously a part of the the Metropolitan Los Angeles Younger Member Forum, where Orange County members were active participants. Recognizing the growing need for a dedicated platform to serve the unique interests of younger engineers in Orange County, a group of visionary leaders initiated the process of forming a separate young professionals group in 1999.
After years of planning, collaboration, and advocacy, ASCE OC YMF was officially recognized by ASCE Society in 2003. Since then, OC YMF has flourished into one of the most active and impactful younger member groups in the region, offering a wide range of programs including professional development, community service, networking events, and student outreach.
This success is built on the dedication of countless volunteers and leaders who have served over the years. Their efforts laid the foundation for a vibrant and inclusive community that continues to support the growth of young civil engineers. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all who have contributed, especially those who have served as Presidents of ASCE OC YMF, for their leadership, vision, and commitment to excellence.
Today, OC YMF remains a cornerstone of the ASCE Orange County Branch, empowering the next generation of civil engineers to lead with integrity, innovation, and purpose.
