Small Steps Towards A Greener Future

Did you know Earth Day is celebrated on April 22? My drawing that I have created shows that since we live on Earth, we must do our best to protect it. I like to think about the saying, “Our Earth, Our Energy, Our Choice.” The reason I created this piece was to show how everyone living on Earth must work together as partners. I chose to depict Earth as a garden. This is a metaphor to show how our planet needs to be taken care of like a garden. If we want to live a healthier future, we need to be the ones that take care of Earth.

In my art, you can see people making green choices every single day. Some people are working in a community to plant newer trees. Other people are using a recycling bin to reuse the plastic that kills our planet, while some use a compost bin to turn food scraps into fertilized soil. You can also see a bike, instead of using a car that releases CO2. Another important part is how rainwater is conserved into a barrel, to save water. These small actions help the planet in a bigger way than most people imagine.

I also included a solar panel that converts sunlight into usable energy, that can also be used to power the electric vehicle charger. The wind turbine converts wind energy into usable energy as well. These natural sources of energy keep the Earth protected, instead of burning fossil fuels and harming our environment. I also drew a seed bank, whose purpose is to keep seeds safe, so therefore we can grow more plants and trees. If you look into the beautiful, blue sky, you can see the happy and free birds that are enjoying the clean, pollution-free atmosphere. Did you know that trees and plants absorb Carbon Dioxide and release Oxygen, making our air cleaner and lowering pollution? This is why I included a lot of trees and plants. All these engineering tools show how using technology helps to protect Earth’s natural resources. This means engineers help us solve big problems that we cannot fix on our own.

The reason I created this piece is to show how we have the power to fix our planet. The theme of my piece is that we can work together to keep our home healthy and green. We can build a healthy future by using renewable energy and maintaining our good and healthy habits. We need to have passionate people and technology to be able to succeed. Whether we are planting seeds or building a wind turbine, we are all shaping a greener world. Let’s celebrate Earth Day together by planting seeds!
