Speaker: Alys Arenas, Restoration Manager, Newport Bay Conservancy (NBC)
As NBC’s restoration manager, Alys is the lead on bay-wide monitoring and control of non-native invasive species such as desert knapweed and Algerian sea lavender, monitoring and maintenance of restored areas in Big Canyon as well as other canyons tributary to Newport Bay, and bay-wide rare plant monitoring and native plant propagation. Alys plays a key role in NBC’s education and community outreach programs. Alys received her Master of Science in Geographic Information Science from California State University, Long Beach in 2014. Bob Stein, Assistant City Engineer, City of Newport Beach Bob is a civil design engineer and manager for the City’s watershed protection and restoration program.
