ASCE OC Community Service: Beach Clean-up with Veterans

On July 11, ASCE Orange County and the San Bernardino-Riverside YMF teamed up with Recycle for Veterans for a beach cleanup in Huntington Beach.

We were greeted with beautiful weather, sunny skies, and a cool ocean breeze, as we kicked off the morning with a quick huddle to go over the plan for the day. After grabbing supplies, volunteers spread out across the beach and got to work cleaning their assigned areas.

As the morning went on, it was rewarding to see the difference our efforts were making. Piece by piece, the shoreline became cleaner, and by the end of the event, we had collected enough litter to fill two garbage bags. While it may not sound like a lot, every piece removed helps keep our beaches cleaner and safer for the community and local wildlife.

We wrapped up the day by gathering with the Recycle for Veterans team, who thanked everyone for their time and hard work. It was a great opportunity to give back, spend time with fellow ASCE members, and make a positive impact in our community. We left feeling proud of what we accomplished and look forward to joining future cleanup events.
